The Impact of the COVID-19 Virus on College and University Finances

 

The COVID 19 pandemic has caused the world to rethink the word "normal." Every sector of society has been impacted by this virus, including higher education. All operations at higher education institutions have been impacted including finances and endowments. The purpose of this session is to assess the financial impact of the COVID19 virus and to provide information to assist institutions in thinking through how to manage finances during this critical time and beyond.

 

On-line Series - Session III Panelists: 
Douglas Allen is the Executive Vice President for Finance and Administration and Chief Financial Officer at Kentucky State University. He has more than 21 years of accounting experience within higher education. Mr. Allen previously served as Director of Financial Services for the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. 

 

Dr. Dwight J. Fennell has been President of Texas College since 2008. He has been involved in higher education for over 35 years. He has served as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs and he is a tenured Professor of History. He has chaired several reaffirmation visits and he led his institution through two reaffirmation cycles. Dr. Fennell is an advocate for student success in education.

 

Tijuana Hudson serves as the Vice President for Fiscal Affairs at Claflin University and has been the Chief Financial Officer for 10 years. With over 19 years of experience in higher education in the CFO position, she brings a breadth and depth of knowledge to the position. She is a graduate of North Carolina A & T State University and a Certified Public Accountant.

 

Dr. Jack Thomas is currently President-elect of Central State University in Wilberforce, Ohio. An accomplished Higher Education professional, Dr. Thomas has nearly 30 years of experience in Higher Education Administration. He most recently served as President of Western Illinois University for nearly a decade.
 
Dr. Joseph H. Silver, Sr. is President of Silver & Associates. He has been in higher education for over 35 years serving as President, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, University System Academic Officer, and other administrative positions. He has also served as Vice President for SACSCOC.
